One to one lessons during Covid pandemic- level 1

The current Government position for non essential businesses and in particular private music guitar tuition is, ‘may have a maximum of 2 people in an indoor business premises, as long as those individuals are able to respect strict physical distancing and hygiene measures at all times’.

Therefore after careful consideration of the welfare of my students, myself and my family I have decided to offer lessons at my home again. This is a decision for the individual student, I will also continue to offer ‘Zoom’ lessons if a student prefers to maintain that method of learning or a combination of both.

All parties must recognise that such tuition will never be entirely free of the risk of contracting COVID-19 but that I have made all efforts to assess risks accurately and to take steps to minimise them where identified. This document sets out a procedure for attending a lesson to minimise such risks.

Your health and your family’s health

You must not attend a lesson if any of the below circumstances apply;

1. If you have travelled in the last 14 days and are still awaiting one or two negative Covid test results. (depending on green/amber/red status of country visited)

2. If you or any of your family are displaying any potential covid symptoms-

A new continuous cough and/or fever which may be accompanied by one or more of the following:

  • headaches
  • tiredness
  • muscle ache
  • respiratory symptoms besides cough such as a sore throat, blocked or runny nose
  • gastro-intestinal symptoms can also be a feature of COVID 19 and these are more common in children than adults
  • loss of smell and taste (in some cases this may be the only symptom present)

3. If either you or a family member has a health condition that could increase the risk- clinically vulnerable (recent operation, long term illness) or has an underlying health condition- e.g. diabetes.

If you feel well enough and wish to proceed with a lesson, then a ‘Zoom’ lesson could be provided in the above or any other circumstances that you believe would preclude you from attending a lesson.

My health and my family’s health

If any of the above circumstances apply to either myself or my family, then I will inform you ASAP and offer you a ‘Zoom’ lesson.

Arriving at my house

The driveway is available for you to park. Please use the hand sanitiser in the porch. The porch door handle and doorbell will have been sterile wiped just before your arrival. I will open the front door and request you remain a metre distance from me at all times.

You will then take the lead and make your way to my guitar studio on the first floor. The bannisters will have been sterile wiped, but if possible try not to touch any furniture/fittings within the building.

Guitar Studio- lesson

Once in the studio set yourself up on the student chair. I will then sit on my chair ensuring a 1 metre distance is respected. The music stand & your chair will have been sterile wiped immediately before your arrival. I will use my computer to refer to the music/theory under tuition. The room will be well ventilated. I would ask that if possible you do not use the toilet here. If you wish to wear a face covering, please feel free to do so.

Leaving the building

Once the lesson is completed, I will leave the studio whilst you pack away your music/guitar. I will then take the lead and open the front door of the house for you. Please feel free to use the hand sanitiser on your exit if you wish.

Contact Tracing

I am required to have contact information from you, the Government state-

The collection of simple contact information from customers allows the contact tracing team to help protect others who have been in close contact with someone who is a confirmed case of COVID-19 through the track and trace process.

Therefore if you could please supply me with your-
